DIY 4th of July Stars and Stripes Shorts!

Today I will be showing you guys a super fun way to jazz up some of your shorts for the 4th of July, though these can be worn on any summer day.
You'll just need some shorts, obviously, a star stencil or cookie cutter, a sponge or paintbrush, red and white (I actually used silver) paint (blue is optional) and some masking tape. You also might want some newspaper or something to put under the shorts so that you don't make a mess  :)

1. Make stripes on one side of the shorts with strips of tape like this ^

2. Fill in the spaces with your red paint.

3.Peel away the tape and you have...

...red and blue stripes!

4. I used a cookie cutter for this step.

...it actually turned out kinda messy unfortunately, but I just spray-painted inside the cookie cutter. A stencil would work much better, though.

But we're not done yet!

5. This is optional, but it looks really cute to do the same thing on the back pockets.

Don't worry, I'll fix the horrible stars! (I'm not a very crafty person, ok?)

So, in the end, they should look something like this:

                                                                            :D

Tell me if you guys want to see more DIY posts like this one, and what you are going to wear on the 4th!
